Beicio Mynydd Dyfi Mountain Biking is a Community Interest Company formed by volunteers to maintain and develop facilities for mountain biking in the Dyfi Forest and the surrounding area. Our mission is to develop, protect and promote trails in the Dyfi Forest in order to provide a network of the best mountain bike trails in the UK.
The Dyfi Forest has been home to trails since motocrossers started using the land in the 1960’s and since the dawn of mountain biking local riders have utilised these unofficial trails.
Work to create MTB specific trails started 20 years ago, utilising public rights-of-way to the south of Machynlleth for the Mach 1, 2 and 3 trails. In 2005 this expanded with the construction of the legendary ClimachX trail in Ceinws/Esgairceiliog.
We are now working with the landowners of the Dyfi Forest, Natural Resources Wales (NRW), to open access in the Dyfi Forest and pioneer a new style of trail network beyond the predetermined way-marked trails with which we have become familiar.
The ClimachX trail is sited in the Dyfi Forest, eight kilometres north of Machynlleth, a small market town in Mid Wales; while the Mach 1, 2 and 3 trails can be found in the hills to the south of the town .
The ClimachX trail is 15km of natural, flowing trail set on the slate bedrock of the area. As one of the earlier purpose-built mountain bike trails in the UK, it has a much more natural feel than many manmade trails, with nine kilometres of built singletrack with compressions, whoops, rock slab drop offs and one of the longest descents in Wales
MACH 1, 2 AND 3
The Mach Trails are classic mountain bike routes featuring big countryside and big skies that have now been refreshed with new signage. Follow the Dyfi MTB logo for adventures around the south of the Dyfi valley
On the last weekend in July we welcome Grinduro Wales to the Dyfi Forest an event that combines the best elements of a mountain bike enduro with a gravel grinder-style road race.
Just announced for June 2022 is the Cymru MTB Classic, part of the legendary Epic series of races and which will also use some of the trails in the Dyfi Forest
As Wales comes out of lockdown and we are able to welcome visitors to the Dyfi again, we have finished installing the new signposts of the Mach trails and are working to ensure that all the trails are riding well.
Additionally we are working on updating the website to provide you with the best information possible to ensure that you can make the most of your time in the Dyfi.
Please use the form if you want to contact us about any aspect of the business or anything relating to mountain bike trails in the Dyfi valley. Alternatively, feel free to send us an email.
