Our vision is to Protect, Promote and Develop off-road cycling in the Dyfi Forest and surrounding areas to create an identity for both the trails and the area that benefits both riders and the communities by making the Dyfi a world-class destination.
We want to create strong partnerships with riders and organisations to create and manage trails that are sustainable and which benefit both riders and the environment.
Trail Maintenance
How we maintain the Dyfi trails
Beicio Mynydd Dyfi Mountain Biking want to ensure that all trails built in the area are sustainable and this means prioritising the land and the environment. The Dyfi Forest has long been a destination for UK mountain bikers, these are natural trails set in a rugged wilderness landscape. It is a world beyond the bike park that is open to all.
We have been working with landowners to protect these trails, that have been created and maintained by enthusiasts over decades, from commercial pressures such as tree-felling. But as the popularity of mountain biking has surged in recent years, we also need to protect this heritage from damage simply by the trails being ridden.
We need to plan maintenance work on the trail that includes erosion control, trail surface maintenance, and vegetation management. All of these are vital to ensure these trails continue to exist and are safe and fun to ride. The trails need to be built to a recognised standard that prevents the land eroding away within a few months, so protecting the riding and the environment. The Dyfi Forest is designated as temperate rainforest, it is home to species of flora and fauna that are protected and so we need to ensure that trails do not cause damage to these habitats.
The only way we can meet the needs of both riders and the environment is to have a programme of planned maintenance for the trails. In order for us to be able to do this, your support is essential. By volunteering to help wither with the work, or with the running of the company means you are directly contributing to the success of the area..
